Adding unnecessary, additional evidence to my being awesome, the Admissions office at UNH still wears two of my photographs in its receiving area/waiting room. It must have been four years now since I put those up. It's kind of neat to think that something I made has added to the first impressions of new students.

My first time ever racing on a real race track. Louden is supposed to be one of the most technically difficult tracks in the world, and in my first day I was signed off to drive solo the next day.
Today, I was known to pretty much everyone as the 'smoker' - a huge plume of smoke jetted out of my tail pipe every time I put the hammer down... which was *very* often.
The brake pads and rotors are less than 24 hours old, and before this race, the tires had never been used.

I got to ride shot-gun in one of the instructor's cars - this two liter Alfa-Romeo STV2000 was no slouch. I think it had a lot to do with the driver, however: A very seasoned racer from Brazil, and really nice guy.

There were two other diesels racing at Louden
today, both more powerful than mine, and smoking less. I really need to race with a higher concentration of bio.

This is what brand new R-compounds look like after a day of amateur racing. Notice the pieces of tire - from other cars, mind you - that got fused into mine. It was a really hot day, which didn't help, but I've never seen a tire *gain* tread by driving hard...
It was an altogether excellent day of racing. I did well enough not to be escorted to the exit with a stern look or by ambulance, and I had a great time meeting new, fellow enthusiasts, and gaining a *lot* of knowledge and understanding of the racing world.
But I still don't care for NASCAR.

The araces Are Coming!
July 8 & 9 i'll be racing up in Louden on these new 15" R-compounds
(tread compound of 40). They'll fair a damn site better than my 17"
wheels with a tread compound of 360.
